Witness Testimony given by Elfric Wells Chalmers Kearney (Part 4)

3148, Mr. W. H. Gattie: Will you give it to me according to this Table which you will put in? (Handing Table.)  --- The number of trains that have to be dealt with on present- day traffic conditions from the north is 149, and from the south 59, and from the east 126. Supposing those trains could be received at constant intervals then you would have a train coming in from the north every 9 1/2 minutes throughout the 24 hours, and from the south every 24 minutes, and from the east every 11 1/2  minutes, making an average interval of 4.3 minutes throughout the day for the whole of the trains from every direction into and out of the Clearing House.
