Shields Daily News, February 1925.
Below is a cross section plan of the river Tyne at North and South Shields, at the point where Elfric proposed to construct a tube railway. If sufficient support from all interested parties is forthcoming. It is to be remembered that the Joint Committee of the Tynemouth and South Shields Councils declined to give support for the reason that the tube will not be adequate for the requirements of the traffic between both towns. The starting point on the north side is in Howard Street and the junction of Saville Street, and at South Shields it is on the west side of Mile End Road and Lady's Walk.
