Australia 1934. The Eastern Suburbs Railway.

 From the Kearney Files,

Bondi Daily 6th October 1934.

As a a regular reader of your valuable paper. I have been a resident of Waver, and are one of the thousands who have looked forward to the Eastern Suburbs Railway being built for many years. It seems almost incredible that valuable suburbs such as Waverley, Woollahra, Randwick, which include Bondi, Bronte, Cloves, Clovelly, are, in 1934 still without a railway. Now that the Kearney Company have offered to finance and build the railway, it is up to our local members, Messrs. Thomas, Cunningham, Waddell, Moverley and Foster to show us they really do count in the Government and assisted by the local aldermen to see we get the job done. As the money is available, let us use it and take some thousand of our unemployed off the streets.
