HIGH SPEED RAILWAY
For Sydney Harbour
London, April 29th
Mr. Elfric Wells Chalmers Kearney, an Australian engineer, gave a demonstration of a high speed railway designed to communicate between Circular Quay and Milson's Point, Sydney, by a tube under the harbour. The model cars worked without a hitch. He estimates the cost of his scheme at three quarters of a million, as against ten millions for Bradfield's bridge. The principle of gravity is utilised for developing high speed and the two model lines which were operated worked perfectly. Sir Timothy Coghlan acting Agent General for New South Wales, inspected the scheme.
