MELBOURNE MAN'S SCHEME
SAVING OF THREE MILLIONS
MILSON'S POINT TO RAILWAY
(From Our Special Representative)
LONDON, Wednesday Night.
Mr. Chalmers Kearney, formerly a Melbourne civil engineer, and promoter of a high speed mono - rail, has forwarded to the New South Wales Government a scheme to construct a tube under the harbor from Milson's Point to Dawes Point, thence to the Town Hall and on to the Central Railway Station.
The whole journey, including the three stops, would occupy six minutes. The scheme would cost £3,812,000 less than the Government scheme.
Mr. Kearney claims that his scheme would be more efficient, more expeditious, more direct, and have double the capacity of the other scheme; and that there would be level platforms. He asserts that his scheme has been established in Nice and Montreal.
The particulars will reach Mr. Holman at the end of the week.
