The Strand to Crystal Palace Royal Commission on London Traffic Part Five

The Kearney Files

" This it will be seen" concludes Mr. Kearney on his comments on the Royal Commission Report that not only does the Kearney system realise all the recommendations of the Royal Commission on London Traffic but is actually the system specifically mentioned by them as one which may be expected to solve the problem of providing sufficient underground travelling facilities for the Metropolis. Indeed the evidence is so strongly in favour of the Kearney system that it is a matter of surprise to many that nothing had been done up to the present to carry into effect the suggestion made. The claim for the Kearney tube railway system that it can be constructed for £250,000 per mile including equipment has now been placed beyond question and the difficulty of financing enterprise of this nature had been removed once and for all.
