Manchester Dispatch 11th November 1919.
From the Kearney Files.
Irish Channel Tunnel.
The Irish Tunnel Scheme mentioned in the report of The Select Committee on Transport,is anything but a new idea. Mr Chalmers Kearney a consulting engineer to the Ministry of Munitions, tells me that although the committee is "unable at present to make recommendations". There has been a full scheme for a High-Speed submarine railway to Ireland under consideration for a considerable time. Carried out in all its details. It would reduce the journey from London to Galway to just over 4 hours! Mr Kearney, who is a well known inventor, has a new channel tunnel scheme at present before the Government.
