FERRY FARES AND PUBLIC
WHY WAIT 10 YEARS FOR A BRIDGE?

CONTENDER THAT PEOPLES'  NEED JUSTIFIES CONSIDERATION OF KEARNEY TUBE.

"Ferry fares and the Bridge," calls attention in no uncertain manner to the disabilities under which the people who use the ferry boats, and incidentally, the constituents of the Treasurer, Mr. A. A. C. Cocks are compelled to put up with.
At least ten years will elapse before the North Shore Bridge can possibly be available for traffic, and meanwhile, the long suffering public will be at the mercy of the ferry company.
Under the ci the time seems opportune to ask why not allow the construction of the Kearney tube to connect Circular Quay and Milson's Point.
The tube would put an end to the "virtual monopoly of trans - harbour transport," and would relieve the situation pending the building of the bridge, as it would be in operation 18 months after commencing the work of construction.
Mr. Kearney recently offered to come to Sydney at his own expense for the purpose of showing his model tube railway, and explaining his proposal, but the Premier cabled and declined the offer.
In view of the announcement of the Sydney Ferries Company, the Kearney tube proposal should receive further consideration.

Secretary, Kearney High Speed Railway Co. (Aust.) Ltd.
