What the company offers.

The announced intention of the Government to proceed with the construction of the city railway is satisfactory news indeed. But before committing itself to a scheme based either upon the shallow system of underground railways as instanced by the London Inner City Circle and the New York subway or deep level system as exemplified by the London tube railways the merits of the Kearney High Speed Tube System demanded investigation.
It is a well known fact that the London underground railways are not now a paying proposition and Lord Ashfield the Chairman of Directors is endeavouring to devise means to reduce working costs. With this in mind he has been in consultation with the inventor of the Kearney High Speed Tube Railway.
  Kearney Offer.
Mr. Kearney will be in Sydney in the near future and is prepared to construct a tube to connect Circular Quay and Milson's Point in one year from date of commencement and will either run it as a commercial enterprise or allow the Government to take it over. If it proves a success he will have undeniable claims for the adoption of his scheme for the Sydney underground railways which will ensure minimum capital expenditure, low working costs and highest effective speed.
