Whirling the Whirl
A Strand Novelty
High - Speed Railway Trips In A Garden of Flowers

Adventurous people will soon be "whirling the Whirl" on the Strand Site.
Next month a portion of the Aldwych site west of the plot which is to be occupied by the Salvation Army Hall will be transformed from the present weed jungle into a flower garden. The Kearney High - Speed Railway Company have secured this central position for the exhibition of their rail car system.
A track of rail several hundred feet in length, intended both by gradient and curves to demonstrate the value of the high - speed railway, is to be constructed in a summer garden which, it is anticipated will become the resort of central Londoners for summer evenings.
It is proposed to charge 6d entrance to the gardens and 6d for a ride in the train, which will traverse the grounds several times for that fare, as the promoters are anxious that the public may have full opportunities of testing the system.
Mr. Kearney is having the site laid out as an ornamental pleasance, with a Bandstand, Tea Pavillion, Sunken Gardens and realistically painted scenery.
